Amanda Ashford is the Director and Producer of The Marvin Zindler Documentary. A Houston native now based in Austin, Amanda brings a deep personal connection to Zindler’s legacy and a clear vision for how his story should be told. With a background in real estate, business development, and media, she has built her career on leading complex projects from concept to completion and adds skills that translate seamlessly into the demands of documentary filmmaking.
Amanda’s experience as a professional model introduced her to the mechanics of production and storytelling, while her years as a Realtor and developer sharpened her ability to manage teams, budgets, and negotiations. Her leadership style is rooted in authenticity and accountability, ensuring the film not only captures Zindler’s spirit but also upholds the integrity of his work. Amanda’s goal is to deliver a documentary that informs, inspires, and preserves the legacy of Texas’s most unforgettable figures.
Erik Mauck is a documentary filmmaker, camera operator and editor based in Austin, Texas, who has extensive experience working on a wide variety of non-fiction projects. He has directed and edited several feature-length projects including “Zombie Girl: The Movie,” which won the 2010 Spirit Award at the Slamdance Film Festival, and “The Road to Livingston,” which had an extensive film festival run and was distributed by Film Rise. He has also worked on several shorts including “See the Dirt,” which won the Best Documentary Short Award at the 2012 Austin Film Festival and “The Last Book Buy,” which was nominated for the Texas Short Film Award at the 2024 Austin Film Festival. He has also worked within the non-profit community in Austin for organizations such as the Westcave Discovery Center, Keep Austin Beautiful, Bookspring, and Keep Austin Fed. He has also made several narrative features and shorts, specializing in using improvisation to initiate dialogue between his characters.
